THE LAVENDER HILL MOB (1951)

The only comment I wrote down after watching this movie was “loved this one!” …Not helpful at all, February 2019 Hannah. I’m sure if I were to go back and watch it now, having seen everything I have since, I probably would not “love this one!” as much, but can we blame my excitement over having something better to watch than a couple hours of Dutch I can’t even begin to understand? Seeing as I watched this one over a year ago now, all I remember is that there were miniature gold-cast Eiffel Tower souvenirs that were central plot points, and the ending caught me off guard. However, there were definitely some humorous bits, so if you ever find yourself in a situation where you’ve run out of other things to watch, say, being quarantined at home in the midst of a global pandemic, this isn’t a complete waste of your time. If I’m remembering correctly, Audrey does show up in only one scene of this—it’s either at the very beginning or very end, I’m not sure which. But it’s still worth watching if there’s nothing else to watch.
